Template:
A
Template is a predesigned document in a format that can be used
for a specified purpose. It has blanks in it which are supposed
to be filled out with data fitting for a individual
situation.
In the area of Internet marketing there
are website
templates, email
templates, squeeze
page templates, sales
letter templates and other forms.
For example if an Internet marketer had found 10 websites with related subjects to his own and intended to mail the webmasters to propose a link exchange, he could use an email “link-exchange-proposal”-Template for all 10 with a preformulated text. All left to do for him would be to fill in the email addresses and for each case some individual data which would show that he had actually visited the site and that this wouldn’t be just another spam type, automated offer.
Website Templates are in great demand. They provide a
basic website layout with header, graphics, navigation
structure, sometimes even the content is already there –
especially when the Templates are designed
for AdSense
websites in
specific niches
.
The webmaster only has to customize the blank spots with
his domain name and do some changes according his
individual preferences.
This is an example for a website template provided by the webdesign software XSite Pro.
The pro of using website
Templates is that they save a lot of time. Also some Internet
marketers might not be able to build a website. With a Template
they can create a professional looking site without having to
pay huge sums for a designer.
The downside is that a Template will most probably be used not
only by one marketer. Especially with free Templates a lot of
webmasters might use websites with the same
layout. Search
engines could interpret
this as duplicate
content and make it
harder for such sites to rank well. Therefore, when using
Templates try to customize them as far as possible to
make them unique.
[Template is of unclear origin, probably is a diminutive of temple]
