Poll:
A Poll means taking a
survey amongst a group of people to a specific subject,
tallying up their answers and extrapolating from these results
the opinion of the whole group.
For an Internet marketer Polls are important as a tool to establish the need and want of his target market. To create a new product , put up a AdSense website in some niche without finding out first whether there is a demand for the product or whether people are interested in this niche at all may prove as a costly mistake.
Example of a poll page asking for the
visitor’s opinion about rings. Screenshot from the Easy
Poll Creator software’s sales page. The voting area and
voting result would not be on the same page in a real
example as it would influence the visitor’s opinion.
Instead he would be directed to the voting result-page
after he has given his vote.
For a marketer it is far better to really know what people want and what they are willing to buy for what price than only rely on his own opinion. Polls are a easy way to acquire that knowledge. It can be done by sending a set of questions to his email list , by including a poll on his own website or by using a online service for it.
[Poll comes from Middle Dutch pol = head, top (in the sense of counting heads as votes)]
