Opt-in:
Opting-in for a Internet user means that he expresses his willingness to receive mailings from the marketer to whom’s mailing list he subscribes. This is done on a squeeze page or lead capture page (same thing) which contains the Opt-in form for the user to submit his name and email address. Most often a free gift is offered on the page to entice him to subscribe.
Creating high converting squeeze pages with Opt-in forms and driving traffic to them is the primary way for an Internet marketer to build his list and should be one of the highest priority activities for him.
In today’s Internet marketing world a single Opt-in
process leaves the marketer still with the risk to be
accused of spamming. The user might forget that he Opted-in
or some prankster could have done it for him. Therefore
the double
Opt-in procedure should be used for every
subscriber before emails are sent to
him.
[Opt-in is from Latin optare = to wish for, desire, select]
