Guru:


The word Guru comes from the old Indian language Sanskrit and in the Hindu and Buddhist religion refers to a sacred man who has gained complete insight into the spiritual nature of the universe and man. A Guru is supposed to be the one who teaches others his wisdom and thereby guides them on the right way to self realization and deliverance from the endless cycle of life and death.

The term has meanwhile entered our modern civilization and also Internet marketing. Here a Guru in analogy to it’s religious definition is supposed to mean someone who has mastered the skills to perfection as evidenced by his success and who is willing to pass his wisdom along to others – newcomers or failing marketers – and lead them on the way to similar success.

In recent years, however, usage of the term "(Internet marketing) Guru" has changed to a rather negative connotation. Marketers using the word Guru now often mean to describe a famous marketer who misuses his reputation in a way of not being interested so much in his follower’s success but to make them buy his product s.
