Copyright:
Copyright denotes a set of regulations how to treat the original idea of someone expressed in a written work, a graphic design, picture or photograph, or any other form in which a communication of an idea can be performed.
Copyright is supposed to protect one’s own creation from being copied without authorization. It usually has a limited duration (in the US for works created after 1st of January 1978 it extends for the author’s lifetime plus 70 years).
Every author of any original work is automatically entitled to hold the Copyright for it, he doesn’t have to specifically claim his Copyright or apply for it. Copyrighted works are often labelled with the symbol ©, the year in which the work was created and the name of the Copyright holder.
[Copy comes from Latin copia = reproduction, transcript; earlier Latin copia = abundance;
Right is from Middle English riht = just, fair and goes back to Indo European base reg- = to move in a straight line]
