Contextual Advertising:
Contextual Advertising is a form of PPC advertising mainly on websites where an automated system serves ads which are relevant to the page’s content . Therefore it is also called Targeted Advertising.
The best known and first of this kind was Google AdSense followed by Yahoo! Publisher Network and Microsoft adCenter. In recent times even different types of Contextual Ad systems came up like Kontera and also eBay developed it’s Context Ad system.
To be able to display
Contextual Ads on a website a webmaster has to sign up with one
of the ad networks and then put a piece of code within the
source code of his site. The website content and
keyword
s
are then evaluated by
the ad supplier (i.e. Google, Yahoo!, Kontera or with
whatever company the webmaster cooperates) and text ads
relevant to this content are automatically displayed on the
site. If a website visitor clicks on an ad the advertiser
has to pay the ad network and the webmaster receives a share
of the money.

Another and widely used form of Contextual Advertising are the

Google, Yahoo!, MSN and others, which are relevant to the
search term the user had typed in. For an example see
